The Fenghe Park
The Fenghe Park, located in the Zhonglu Consolidation Zone in Taoyuan Dist., Taoyuan City, is a metropolitan disaster-prevention and landscape-oriented park designed based on the concept of microclimate and wind flow. The park measures 4.6 ha in base area; park construction began on Dec. 1, 2012 and ended on Aug. 25, 2014. In 2014, the park won the 14th Public Construction Golden Quality Award.
Internally, the Fenghe Park contains a detention basin that can hold approximately 57,800 cm3 of water. In addition, the physical features of a nearby building were designed in accordance with surrounding terrains to “encapsulate” the park. A joint office comprising the “Road Mining Management and Information Center” and the “Traffic Control Center” can be found inside the building.
In the future, the height difference of the Fenghe Park detention basin will be utilized to construct various facilities including slides, within-forest coffee lounge areas, sandpit game areas, grass stage areas, grass slope viewing areas, and hydrophilic watercourses. Additionally, park seat quality will be enhanced to develop the Fenghe Park into a “Fenghe Theater” that can be used to host various activities. Furthermore, pavements and lighting systems will be updated and improved to transform the Fenghe Park into a park that serves both disaster-prevention and leisure purposes.
